========== WRITTEN TEST ===========

Despite the peaceful and subtle activities of Andalusst City, one small, sleek flame-tipped lizard pushed her way through the crowd of Pokemon. The sun shone brightly over head, only to be briefly dotted out by a dark black feathered shape. “Hurry up!” The lizard called, only taking one glance up towards the vast blue sky that covered the world that they lived in with a heavenly embrace. “We’re going to be late! If we don’t get there in time, then there won’t be any left!”

The bird let out a soft chuckle before folding his wings in slightly so that he plummeted towards his companion, as if he were skydiving. Before hitting the heads of the others around them, he unfurled his wings and came to rest at an easy glide over the Charmander.

“Its a relaxing day,” The Dark/Flying type seemed to be reminding his friend, his bright and oddly coloured eyes (they were blue instead of red, like most normal Murkrow) skimming the shops that lined both sides of the streets. “why don’t we go check out some of the stores and take our time? You’ll get some food later, it won’t be gone when we come back; okay Candlestick?” The Charmander huffed, tiny specks of flame floating out of her nostrils and mouth.

Just like always and without looking where she was going, the Charmander rushed her way deeper into the crowd, taking a sharp turn around the corner before colliding into another Pokemon. Dazed, she took a few steps backwards, rubbing her head. The Murkrow perched on top of his friend’s head--he wasn’t all that heavy, and the Fire-type lizard didn’t mind all that much--and dipped his head towards the other Pokemon, as if he were silently apologizing. Muttering under her breath, the Pokemon glanced up towards the taller individual, her gaze coming to rest on a Furret.

"Watch it! Why, I oughta toss ya into the street for that!” The Pokemon said. He appeared to be annoyed, and was in no way going to be calmed. Despite the Charmander’s more stubborn and defiant ‘I didn’t do it, what are you talking about’ look, and the Murkrow’s still--as always--calm mask, a smile grew on the Furret’s face. "Heh, just joshin’ ya. Only uptight nerds fight over bumpin’ into each other. I like your style, though.”

The Charmander huffed.

“You new around here? I’m guessin’... stepped outta the fog and got all confused? How close am I?" The Furret continued, and then started to walk next to the two. Even though he ran into the Charmander, the Pokemon seemed to be doing fine walking and not bumping into anyone else. Maybe he planned it, Candle thought bitterly in her head, Maybe this guy is trying to prevent me from getting my grub... What if he’s trying to snag all the food away before I do?! Seeing how his friend was brooding to herself, the Murkrow cleared his throat and offered a kind smile towards the other Pokemon.

“We would have stopped for directions for a place to eat and somewhere to stay; but only if my friend here didn’t charge on ahead.” He replied, tilting his head slightly. His beak shone in the sunlight.

"Oh yeah? Think I’ve heard that one before… maybe not, though. My memory’s all fuzzy after ya scrambled my brain a few seconds ago. Anyway… name’s Cuffin. Pleased to meetcha! Now, how ‘bout you tell me who ya are?"

“Candle,” The Charmander muttered, her arms crossed over her chest. Similarly to the black bird, the lizard too had blue eyes. However, unlike her friend, they were dark and stormy at the moment. “Not Candlestick.”

The Murkrow laughed under his breath before asending to the air, gliding low over the tops of the crowds. He flew ahead of them just a bit before turning towards the other two. “I’m Aeron. Don’t mind Candlestick’s attitude; she’ll be all sunshiney later. Anyways, it is a pleasure to meet you.”

The Furret seemed to stick to them like the letter U always coming after the letter Q; basically whenever the two walked, he would walk. Whenever they stopped, he would stop. Cuffin seemed to be interested in asking them questions (Aeron was pleased to answer despite Candle’s muted complaints) even if they both hated it.

“Not bad, not bad. I wouldn’t name my kids that… but hey, it’s a free world. So, you guys lookin’ into the guilds here? They look pretty desperate for newbies. Think you’d wanna join one of ‘em?” Cuffin asked. However, as the crowd grew denser in some areas where it was more populated, it was harder to keep track where that Furret was. Even with Candle’s desperate attempts to get away, she would always find him with a smile plastered onto his face while walking side-by-side.

“Mhm,” Aeron answered, swooping low around the shops and vendors, “It beats having to stay outside.” Candle muttered her agreement.

"Really? I wouldn’ta pinned ya for that type. I guess they’d be glad to have ya, though. From what I know, they always want ya to have some kinda “team name” to work under ‘em with. What do ya think yours would be?" Cuffin replied, his gaze becoming a bit “twitchy.” It seemed like he had a difficult time seeing, but upon remembering what he was doing, his sight became more confident.

“Team Rhythm.”

Candle folded her arms, pleased with herself for coming up with the name. It had been a long time (long for her since she usually barges in and talks, talks, talks) that the Charmander had remained silent. The Murkrow cocked his head to the side before a smile grew across his beak in approval. The Furret, Cuffin, suppressed a grin. Thinking he was making fun of the team name, the Fire-lizard growled quietly, the flame on her tail tip sparking in size by a little.

“Well, ain’t heard that one before. You might not wanna walk into the rough parts of town callin’ yourself that… eh, or maybe do it anyway if you can handle yourself. I mean, no doubt you can probably throw a punch, or maybe you’ve got a silver tongue. The guilds look for stuff like that. How ‘bout you tell me what ya think your strengths are, just to get your story straight for when they wanna know?” Cuffin continued, turning his bright gaze onto the two smaller beings.

Candle struggled for words when she replied despite being slightly enraged by the Furret. She called herself stubborn, and no good at solving things like puzzles or riddles. She left that mainly for the Murkrow. However, the Charmander was better physically despite her tiny size and appearance. Upon first glance, most would think she was adorable and soft like a girl she was. Candle thought other Pokemon would treat her like a baby. Unlike the fire-type, Aeron was more on the calm and relaxed side. He was the one who usually calmed his friend’s temper, even if it required getting burnt in the process. The Murkrow liked to keep to himself; no one really knew about his past, even Candle who was his closest friend. He claims to be weak even though the Charmander protests otherwise. Between Aeron and Candle, the bird was more of the brains of the two.

Though the Furret had been trailing and hounding them with questions, even throwing in some snide comments here and there, he actually seemed to listen closely when they gave a brief description about themselves.

“Yeah… yeah, I can respect that. Everybody’s gotta get by in their own way, and there ain’t nobody who knows that better than me. If you play on your strengths, you’ll get far here, I bet.” Cuffin replied back. His answer struck a more “deep and emotional” side to the Charmander. Shortly after the two had described themselves, the Furret walked ahead and into their path. He seemed to be smiling for real instead of a teasing, or joking behavior.

“I hate to deprive ya of my presence, but I’ve gotta bounce. I’m sure you’ll see me again, so don’t sweat it. I’m sure the guild’ll love to have ya.”

With a farewell from the Murkrow and a muttered “goodbye” from the Charmander, Cuffin scurried off. Just before disappearing into the mass of bodies, he turned and tipped his hat in a coy manner. The Charmander’s gaze lingered on the fleeting tan and brown striped Pokemon, just before returning her attention towards her companion.

“At last that strange Furret has left,” Candle breathed, setting her clawed hands behind her head. “A chance to relax.” The Murkrow settled himself down onto the reptile’s head, ruffling his feathers up, thus appearing like a black fluff ball of feathers. His intelligent gaze glittered, amused.

“I bet you didn’t hate him all that much, Candlestick,” he laughed, fluttering a wing in front of her eyes. “You don’t have that much hate for someone. Anyways, what are we going to do next?”

“To find a guild, probably. But if we get rejected and thrown out into the streets, we’ll probably find something to do.” And with that, Candle tilted her gaze up towards the black bird, which also caused him to soar up into the air. Offering a pleasant smile, the Charmander acted as if she were promising her friend everything she could offer.

“Stop being so cheesy, Candlestick.”

“Oh come on! You ruined the vibe I was getting!”
